Treatment of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

This psychological treatment is based on the search for triggering factors, traumatic circumstances in childhood or adolescence, either punctual or extended in time, or also an excess of overprotection and control by the family, which could generate a blockage in the development of the personality and character of the patient, leaving him/her trapped in fear and/or guilt, inhibiting his/her spontaneity and generating an over-adapted behaviour to the environment. An avoidant life instead of a life activated by will and desire.

The different obsessive contents or rituals are analysed metaphorically and not literally. These contents never directly represent what they manifest. That is, the fear of hurting someone, for example, is not an indicator of repressed aggression but of an irrational excess of self-control.

Once an in-depth analysis of the patient’s personality and history has been carried out, we move on to work on the possibilities of unblocking inhibition with agreed proposals for activation in the person’s own reality.
